Ethereum sustains the settlement layer for DeFi, RWA tokenization, and the AI-adjacent middleware stack. Solana captures retail imagination with low fees, high throughput, and an aggressive infrastructure-for-internet-scale-applications pitch. The marginal attention dollar is flowing to AI, DePIN, and high-throughput experimentation. XRP's competing position is a payment network with bank partnerships and a regulatory survival story. Let me be specific about the data. Developer activity on XRP Ledger has persistently trailed Ethereum, Solana, and even smaller ecosystems. The XRP Ledger's decentralized exchange is functional, and some activity exists in its native AMM pools, but the application ecosystem is thin. The value flywheel that drives Ethereum's and Solana's token prices — new applications attracting new users, generating fees and liquidity, compounding usage — is not running at the same intensity on XRP Ledger.

The result is structural: XRP's valuation is anchored to institutional narrative rather than on-chain usage. When the narrative stalls, as it has since the post-SEC rally faded, there is no latent organic demand to catch the price. The $1 level is supported by memory. It is not supported by usage.

Seven. Derivatives positioning compounds the risk.

One additional layer deserves attention: the derivatives market. XRP perpetual contracts historically show extreme funding rate swings whenever price approaches a psychologically significant level.
